10th Annual Run For Peace
September 21, 2008| 9:00 AM
Dear Friend,
Welcome to the Run For Peace website! We’re excited about your visit. Here are three good reasons why you should register for the 10th edition of our unique race:
Celebrate the International Day of Peace with Likeminded Folks!
We live on a beautiful planet. Mother Nature’s riches are abundant. The multifaceted cultures of our numerous societies are an endless source of inspiration and innovation. A life in harmony with each other and nature is possible. Yet, these are troubled times.
Unless we collectively call for an end to violence and pollution, social and environmental injustice will remain widespread, wars will be fought and innocent people will continue to be killed and maimed. On this year’s International Day of Peace, we invite you to say YES to peace. If we all practice peace in our daily lives, peace ultimately will prevail.
Support Bay Area Peace and Justice Groups!
Peace and justice is hard work. The Run For Peace provides you with a great opportunity to learn more about peace and justice groups that are active in the Bay Area and beyond. Express your support and participate in our run! Make a pledge in support of your favorite activist group and invite your friends and family to make a generous donation and help you fulfill your pledge. Last year, all participants collectively raised over $10,000 for a total of 7 groups. We’d like to increase the funds raised this year, so please spread the word and get everyone involved in the 10th annual Run For Peace!
Nurture Your Body and Soul!
The Run For Peace, an annual 5K/10K run in Berkeley's Cesar Chavez Park and along the idyllic Berkeley Marina, is a fun community run that draws participants from all over the Bay Area. If you can’t run for Peace, walk for Peace! Everyone is welcome – athletes, amateurs, persons with disabilities, children, dogs, even groups. Feel free to wear a costume…or none! There will be music, food, drinks, and much information about peace and justice activities in the Bay Area. We assure you that Cesar Chavez Park will be THE place to be on September 21 – so please sign up Sign up today.
We look forward to seeing you at the 10th annual Run For Peace!
